Sheepshaver "choppy"

Post by starfiretbt »

I don't really know how to describe this but some games in sheepshaver seem to play "choppy." They don't run smoothly, they might skip along. These games inlcude "thezone" and "the magic school bus explores the human body," although that last one might just be my memory as a child being different and it may naturally play like that but I'm pretty sure my sheepshaver is having trouble with moving animation.

Solutions I tried
1. I have the latest windows version of sheepshaver, the one from 2021
2. I think I updated my quicktime to version 4.1.2. but had trouble. It didn't really replace my old quicktime of 4.0.0 and I didn't know were to install it so I put it under applications. I deleted my old quicktime folder but there are a bunch of quicktime files all over my computer so they might be clashing. I know the quicktime in my control panel says 4.1.2. but I am still having a choppy or stuttering gameplay.
3. I've set my window refresh rate to Dynamic and 60 hz, neither works. Below are my pref

Never-mind I figured it out. TheZone isn't only for PPC, it's also for 68k, which it seems to run better on. I ran it in Basilisk and it ran okay. I still think "The Magic School Bus" seems a little poor but it looks like it also works in windows 3 which I will be trying soon. I'm not in too much of a hurry for that game, I just wanted it for nostalgia.
