Which ROM are you using, and what are the permissions set on the file?

I just got CVS today, built it, grabbed both the iMac rom update (1.4) and the 1.6 rom update, used tomeviewer in my quite functional Basilisk-IIjit build (gentoo ebuild) with system 7.5.5 and then launched sheepshaver. I setup everything and then started it with both my old disk images from b2 and a disk tools 8.5. I get the "Welcome to Macintosh" screen and it's been here for about 6-8 minutes.

Kernel 2.6.9-r9-gentoo, gcc 3.3, today's CVS, and above mentioned mac stuffs.

Any ideas would be great!

(PS, I'm very interested in getting this to work. I have an old version of canvas I got from a copmuterarts special cover cd and I'd like to be able to use it under linux, wine won't run it)

I'm no expert, but do you get any additional info by launching SheepShaver from a terminal command?

./BasiliskII

I got this problem too, and you must no floopy driver on your system, the reson is B2/SS try to access your floopy driver, so just do this:

# cd /dev
# mkdir fd_bak
# mv fd* fd_bak

run B2/SS again.

B2 runs, SS doesn't.

The newest incarnation of my problem can be found here.
