No Sound?

Sun May 29, 2005 7:18 pm

Im back!

So Iv managed to get Sheepshaver up and running, and my software installed and working. One problem - no sound. As an audio engineer this is a distinct problem, lol!

Sound works fine in Basilisk. Also, the CD player works fine in Sheepshaver. But Im not getting any play back in my audio programs, or any of the OS8.5 sounds (you know like errors and that).

Any thoughts?

Thanks again!!!

Use the sound control panel to set sound options.

'Monitors and Sound' panel?

Yeh I did, but it seems that no sound is coming from Sheepshaver. Very strange, like i say the sound works fine in Basilisk. But I'll continue having a mooch, see if i can get it sorted.

Just checking: Does your SheepShaver_prefs file contain "nosound false"?

Also: Which ROM image are you using?

First of all you must have "nosound false" in your config file. I suppose you have that by now.
Then you must choose the output device inside the mac. This is not done throug the Monitors & Sound control panel, but through a different one only called "Sound".
I'm not 100% sure anymore where to find it and I can't check it at the moment (I'm not at home). It must be somewhere in Application Extras folder.
However, after you started it you select "Sound output" in the drop-down box and then choose your sound output (Buildt In). After that restart and you should have sound. You might have to raise the Volume before you can hear anything.

EDIT: The folder was Apple Extras:Sound Control Panel:

Good Luck
