Sheepshaver crash

So far, I am trying to get things to work first-hand. But yeah, it seems to crash for nothing. And the only files I got so far is SDL.dll, the preferences, the GUI, and the EXE. So is there something missing, or are these executables crashing on purpose?!!!

I believe the gui needs the .net framework to initialise.

Hi guys... I continue to await the answer to what I have to do to get .NET running alongside the GUI. Anyhow...

I searched a few topics, and then I found a version of SDL.dll compiled. So I downloaded it.

Then after that, I created a config file from scratch since I still couldn't get any help concerning the GUI and I thought I can go without it:

Code: Select all

disk C:\basiliskII\Mac_OS_HD.dsk
extfs c:\
rom c:\sheepshaver\powermac.rom
cdrom f:\
windowmodes 3
screenmodes 63
seriala COM1
serialb COM2
bootdrive 1
bootdriver 0
ramsize 16777216
frameskip 8
gfxaccel true
nocdrom true
nonet false
nosound false
nogui false
noclipconversion false
ignoresegv true
jit true
jit68k true
keyboardtype 5
keycodes false
mousewheelmode 1
mousewheellines 3
ignoresegv true
idlewait true
keycodes false
mousewheelmode 1
mousewheellines 3
enableextfs false
debugextfs false
extdrives CDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
pollmedia true
So after I begin to open SheepShaver, it crashed and then Windows prepared this error report just so it can be sent straight to Microsoft (like they provide such tech support on anything other than Windows, yeah, right), however, I did not send it. Yeah, it is written in XML. I guess I'll just sit back, sip on some Faygo and continue coasting through time. 8)

Thanx in advance for any advice/support beyond this point.

Hi,

For reference, here is my config file.
What version of rom do you use? and which OS are you trying to run or install?

SheepShaver for Windows can install OS 8.5 to 9.0.4 You should be using a new-world rom file. You can get it from a OS 8.5 disk or download the rom-update file from apple and extract the rom file. For further directions on that read here:
http://www.open.ou.nl/hsp/Engels/SheepS ... tings.html

Beware that sheepshaver for windows is _not_ stable!

Code: Select all

nosound false
nogui true
noclipconversion false
ignoresegv true
idlewait true
seriala file
serialb file
nonet false
jit true
jit68k false
frameskip 0
ramsize 134217728
rom c:\sheepshaver\mac_os_rom_update
windowmodes 7
screenmodes 63
gfxaccel true
disk c:\sheepshaver\sheepshaverhd.hfv
cdrom H:
nocdrom false
bootdrive 0
bootdriver 0
pollmedia true
enableextfs true
debugextfs false
extdrives CDEF
keyboardtype 5
keycodes false
mousewheelmode 1
mousewheellines 3

I have a powermac rom, even though it said it was developed exclusively for OS 8.6, I call it a powermac rom.

I have an OS 8.5 installer as well, since I once thought this would fit in to the powermac rom.

I used BasiliskIIGUI to create the preferences for Sheepshaver and then renamed it to "Sheepshaver_prefs" when I was done.

I ran Sheepshaver and it runs fine from the prefs. I just have to do some installations and maybe I can finally pull it off!

Well thanx.
