Hey,
a friend lend me his MacOS 8.6 iBook Installation CD. The CD boots properly. When i try to install them I get the following error: "This program cannot run on your computer. See the documentation for more information."
I wonder why it doesnt work... Is there a way to install 8.6 from these cds?

Thanks in advance!

In one purpose, that may have to do with the OldWorld/NewWorld ROM's and software. Therefore, that right there can be a potential conflict.

Depends if the CD is a restore CD or an actual OS 8.6 Installer. If it's a restore CD, chances are it won't work, they seem to look at hardware and quit if it's not the right box.

I have both CD the normal Software Installation and the System Restore CD... both dont work... Is there a workaround to install from the install disk?

What ROM do you have for your SS Config? And how much RAM do you have setup?

Your best bet is to do a little research on the SS Readme's as per any quirks Mac OS 8.x has and se if they suggest anything. I seem to recall at one point it was recommended to boot with extensions off. (Hold down shift key to do this)

The trick: install MacOS 8.1 which has HFV+ support. Load 8.1 with restore cd . Mount *.img file manually and copy it to a new HFV file. Works fine. No bugs, no errors.
