I've got the ROM from the OS 8.6 (or the update), and SheepShaver for Windows (unfortunately).

I've tried the PPC Boot Disk for 8.1, the 7.6 Boot Disk and the 8.5 Disk Tools disk, but nothing seems to work.

Can somebody point me to a new world boot disk from 8.6 or 9?

Hi,

It seems only the rom from the mac os rom update (1.6) is able to start SheepShaver at the moment. You can get it from apple downloads. You have to extract the actual rom file with either basiliskII and tomeviewer, or a real mac.

Best wishes,

Post your preferences file here so we can take a look.

btw: SheepShaver for Windows only runs Mac OS 8.5 and higher.

Elsewhere it was discovered that the OS 8.5 boot floppy apparently doesn't work on SheepShaver. The CD-ROM is needed.

Hmm, does any other boot floppy work? If they do, can someone point me to link to one?

Older boot floppies might work (like OS 8.1 PPC), but you would need an appropriate Old World ROM to do that.

I don't think I saw a OS 9.x boot floppy image on my Universal OS 9.0.4 CD. Doubt there is an OS 8.6 boot floppy either. It would be neat if the OS 8.5 boot floppy worked as anyone could download the New World ROM and floppy image and use SheepShaver.
