Rom for Intel Mac to run OS 8?

Hi all,
Got a rom file from Mac OS rom update, and bought a copy of OS 8. Got sheepshaver configured, but when it boots the CD I get a message that the installer is too old to run. Do I have the wrong ROM file for OS 8? Can anyone tell me how to get a rom file, or what version of Mac OS will boot with the rom file I have?

Hi,

To run SheepShaver (in windows at least) with the rom image you have, I believe, you need mac os 8.5/8.6 or 9.0/9.0.4.

The cd you have is PPC and 68xxx suitable?

You need a MacOS system install CD version 8.5, 8.6, 9.0 or 9.0.4. MacOS 8 can indeed not be used.

Note that the CD needs to be a general retail install CD, not one supplied with a specific Mac model.
