What's the use of Sheepshaver?

I got Sheepshaver, thinking it would run some programs I still would want to use. It now turns out I can install the programs, but upon running the programs themselves, Sheep shaver quits. So am I doing something wrong or can't sheepshaver indeed run these programs, making it quite useless for me?

- Which is the host OS (MacOSX, Windows, Linux)?
- If MacOSX, is it on Intel or PPC?
- Which version/build of SheepShaver do you use?
- Which are the settings you used for SheepShaver?
- Which MacOS version did you install?
- Which applications do you want to use?
