Hello,
I haven't found a clear answer to this question:
can SheepShaver run linuxppc while being executed on a PowerPC processor ?

I've got a G4 1Ghz and would like to run a linux distro (probably debian) in a virtual machine and I'd like to have virtualization rather than emulation for obvious speed reason.

I searched and as long as I can say only two apps provide this: SheepShaver an Mac-on-Linux.

Mac-on-Linux had a port on OS X too but due to Apple's moving to Intel processor its author decided not to develop it anymore. Latest binary doesn't run on Tiger.

So I went to Gweanole's page and got binary of SheepShaver but while I'm able to run a System 7.5 image I'm not able to boot a xubuntu desktop cd.
With little trouble I even compiled svn but the result was the same.
Obviously I get the ugly "SheepShaver has crashed" dialog at starts but emulation keeps running.

I saw at least another user of this forum asked the same thing, but that was a bit ago.

Any help appreciated.

I can answer by myself: the answer is "no".

SS is tailored to run System and won't run linux.
