ROMs and OS9 Installations

Post by yksoft1 »

I use 3 different ROMs with SS: one from a now-dead Power Mac 8500, one from Mac OS 8.6's install CD and one from Mac OS ROM Update 1.0. If OS9 is installed on configuations using one of the first 2 roms, it boots on all configuations with any of my roms (however the PRAM must be zapped first before changing roms or the sound and slirp networking may no longer work); but if I install OS9 using the Mac OS ROM Update 1.0's Mac OS ROM, it won't boot anymore and bombs when I change to 8500's ROM, and zapping PRAM do not work.
So even though SS reports itself as a Power Mac 9500 with either of the supported roms used, OS 9 Installer will see differences between those ROMs and install non-universal System file.
Do anyone has a Beige G3 rom and test this?
