can’t find a file on SheepShaver anywhere on the hard drive

Post by BobWon »

We’ve been using a certain file on SheepShaver all year, saving regularly, but our Mac crashed and we can’t locate the file anywhere on the hard drive. Past files do appear in Sheepshaver, but not this most recent.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks!!

If the file was NOT in the "Unix" folder, but on the virtual hard disk image, you may need to recover an old copy of the disk image file from a backup. If the file was in the "Unix" folder, and a copy is not in the macOS folder that corresponds to the "Unix" folder, then you may need to recoer it from a backup.

File lost after crash

Post by BobWon »

Hi all,

I'm not code-savvy and inherited an older accounting program in Sheepshaver on an older Mac.

The machine accidentally crashed and the file, one that had been used and saved, disappeared.

Any simple way, with a simple explanation, of how I can get it back?

Thanks a million for any help!

You will need to provide more information to get a sensible answer.

Did the host Mac crash or did the emulated machine in SheepShaver crash?
If the host machine crashed, did it crash while SheepShaver was running?
Where was the file saved?
Did you make any backups?
