For PPC and Intel Mac, OSX 10.4 (Tiger) through macOS 10.12 (Sierra)

With SDL patch by kanjitalk755 that solves a cosmetic cursor issue in macOS 10.13 (High Sierra)
This download only contains the SheepShaver application itself. For a new setup, first use the download above.Download: http://ronaldpr.home.xs4all.nl/sheepsha ... Lpatch.zipInstallation and setup
If you have an existing SheepShaver setup, you can simply replace the application with the new application.
If you set up SheepShaver for the first time, you will also need a compatible ROM file and a retail MacOS install CD (or a install CD disk image).
For other than US English keyboard layouts the included keycodes file is needed.
A first install on Intel machines will run in 32-bit mode by default. In Snow Leopard on 64-bit capable machines and in Lion through Mavericks, it can be set to run in 64-bit mode by unchecking "Open in 32-bit mode" in Finder Get Info panel. However, in later OSX versions it can again run only in 32-bit mode.
The included SheepShaver Scripts can be used to delete the prefs and nvram files to be able to start a new setup from scratch.Setup manual
See the setup manual for more information: http://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/she ... os_x_setupSelf contained SheepShaver virtual machines
This build supports self contained SheepShaver virtual machine bundles with extension .sheepvm. The manual does not yet contain information about how to setup and use the virtual machines. You can read about the virtual machines and about the development of the related SheepShaverLauncher in this thread: http://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5754
A compatible recent build of SheepShaverLauncher was posted by "vasi": http://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewto ... =20&t=7974SheepShaverPrefs
When you cannot access SheepShaver preferences (for instance when SheepShaver crashes before you can access the built-in preferences editor), you can use this stand-alone preferences editor: http://www.emaculation.com/sheepshaver/ ... rPrefs.zipImprovements since July 15, 2012 build
- Support for disk images in sparsebundle format.
See also explanation and discussion in this topic: http://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewto ... =20&t=7974
- Cursor grabbing toggle (Ctrl-F5).
Pressing Ctrl-F5 will make the emulator grab the mouse cursor and keep it inside its window. Especially useful for some games. Again pressing Ctrl-F5 will release the cursor.
- Window-Fullscreen toggle (Ctrl-Return).
Pressing Ctrl-Return will toggle between window mode and full-screen mode.Known issues
- On all hosts:
When you switch from window to full-screen mode using Ctrl-Return before you used the mouse cursor in the emulator at least once, you may loose the cursor. One click on the desktop or pressing the control key suffices to bring back the cursor.
- On PPC machines:
Like previous builds, very CPU hungry. Set refresh rate in SheepShaver Preferences not higher than 30Hz, preferably at 15Hz.
Recent SheepShaver builds are reported to be unstable on some PPC configurations. The older 25 October 2009 build may be more stable on PPC:http://www.xs4all.nl/~ronaldpr/sheepsha ... 091025.zip
(On PPC that build will present at launch an “unexpectedly quit” message that can simply be dismissed and ignored.)
- On Intel machines:
After minimizing or hiding the SheepShaver window and again bringing it back in view, colors in the window will not be displayed correctly. It can be resolved by forcing the emulator to redraw its screen by changing (and changing back) the color depth setting in Monitors control panel or from the color depth control strip tile.
If you find this issue very disturbing, you can use the older 25 October 2009 build:http://www.xs4all.nl/~ronaldpr/sheepsha ... 091025.zipCompatibility notes:
- OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
In full-screen mode in 64-bit mode:
Serious cursor problems with clicking in the menu bar in full-screen mode.
Use SheepShaver in 32-bit mode if you want to use it full-screen.
- OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion) and later
OSX 10.8 and later prevents mounting of physical CD-ROMs in SheepShaver. CD disk image still work fine, though. See 'Known Issues' in setup manual for more information and workaround.
- OSX 10.10 (Yosemite) and later
SheepShaver will only run in 32-bit mode. If SheepShaver was already installed and set to run in 64-bit mode in an earlier OSX version, check the box "Open in 32-bit mode" in Finder Info panel for the SheepShaver application.
- macOS 10.12 (Sierra) and later
There is an issue with macOS 10.12 Sierra (in fact with an additional new security feature in Sierra) that prevents a newly installed SheepShaver to run. The procedure to get it running is simply to copy the program (only the SheepShaver application itself!) to the desktop, remove the old program in the SheepShaver folder and move the new copy from the desktop to the SheepShaver folder.
