Moving SS to another mac?

I have SS on an external hard drive and would like to be able to plug and play it on other Macs. Can I do that?

You can use it on other Macs, but you will need to configure the settings in preferences the first time you use it in a different account or on a different machine because the prefs file is not on the external hard drive but at root level in your Home folder.

If you want to make the SheepShaver setup really portable, including the preferences settings, you will need to set it up as self-contained virtual machine.
