I have a new MacBook Pro running Sierra (10.12.13) and Sheepshaver will not open.

This afternoon, before leaving work, I dragged a working copy of Sheepshaver (SheepShaver_UB_20140201) from my 2015 iMac (running 10.11?) to my MacBook so I could work from home. When I got home, I found that my copy of Sheepshaver would not open.

This is what I have tried so far:

- I downloaded a new copy, but that didn’t work.

- I tried the moving it to the desktop and back trick (both old and new download), and that didn’t work.

- I tried "xattr -d com.apple.quarantine SheepShaver.app”

- I tried downloading a new ROM. That didn’t work.

- I tried running it from the command line. That’s how I get this error:

Code: Select all

open SheepShaver.app

- double clicking Sheepshaver gives me this series of console messages:

The workaround for macOS 10.12 is to copy the SheepShaver application from its folder to the desktop, then deleting the original and moving the copy back to where the original was.

Of course, because there is no configured prefs file yet on the new machine, at least a compatible rom file that is renamed Mac OS ROM must be present in the same folder with SheepShaver.

Tried that, and it didn't work

That did it! Renaming "newworld86.rom" to "Mac OS ROM" did the trick.

thanks!
