My SheepShaver stopped runing...

Post by thangtamfive »

Hello,

please could anybody help me on why my SheepShaver suddenly stopped runing? I was working with it normally when I installed it in Brazil, but then right after I moved last week to UK, my SheepShaver is not working anymore  A window usually pops up saying "Cannot map SheepShaver Data area: No error."

Here my SheepShaver_prefs:

I presume you are using the same Windows box as in Brazil were the emulator was working.
One big obstacle in modern OS is the fact that SS is allocating RAM at a fixed address.
If some other app already obtained memory in that area, SS can not start.
You might try to reduce SS RAM or kill some tasks that are started before SS and prevent the app from running.
Such a search is hit and miss, sadly.
I found AutoRuns useful to kick out tasks that I don´t really need or want.
Start the app with admin rights to gain best control. https://autoruns.en.softonic.com

Also (unrelated to the issue), I would run a service app like TuneUp to clean registry, fix errors etc.
Windows is still pretty good in creating a mess on its HDDs.
