I have sheepshaver on my mac and I had to delete it to free up space and now I can get it done but now I cannot get sheepshaver to work at all so I now have to start all over. Heres what I have so far

1. ROM File newworldx86 rom
2. Mac OS 9.0.4 ISO
3. Keycodes
4. Sheepshaver application and folder

You are on a Mac host, right?
First delete the old prefs file that may still be in you Home folder. You can do that using the "Delete Prefs File" script that is included in the SheepShaver download. Then follow the setup guide: http://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/she ... os_x_setup

Yes, and what is your question?

Will this work?

Yes, just do what I wrote above.

But the problem with the link that you have me is that its too confusing to read and I dont know what I need to do.

What is the first point that confuses you? We may be able to improve the instructions with your feedback.

It doesn't say what you need to do once you have all of the files downloaded and possible errors you may encounter on the way and plus I cannot get anything working. It just opens up and closes right back

Have you attempted to follow the instructions yet? It sounds to me like you downloaded SheepShaver and attempted to run it without configuring it first, as per https://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/sh ... os_x_setup .

In big bold letters, the documentation states

Quote:
SheepShaver will not run without a compatible ROM file. If SheepShaver does not find a compatible ROM file, it will immediately quit on launch.

Since you've got a new world ROM file, you just need to follow the step that states

Quote:
When you have acquired a compatible ROM file, rename it “Mac OS ROM” (without the quotation marks and without a file name extension) if that is not yet its name. (SheepShaver will recognize a ROM file with that name in the same folder when no prefs file is yet configured.)

I had that all setup but it still just closes immediately on launch

Make sure that the the rom file is indeed named exactly "Mac OS ROM" without a file name extension. You can check that in Finder info for the file: Select the rom file and hit command-S. The Finder Info panel will appear. If the file name still has an extension, remove it here from the file name.

Did that already and it still won't work

And did you first delete the prefs file using the "Delete Prefs" script as I wrote above?

Then you may encounter the issue with Sierra (and later), as described on our download page. Do this:

Copy the SheepShaver application (only the application itself!) from its folder to the desktop. Delete the original application and move the copy back into the folder.

I did that but it made it only to be locked by my administrator so I had to delete the whole folder and start over to fix it and its fixed now. Also, I ran the delete prefs file and it didn't do anything. But now when I have all of the files that I need it still doesn't work.

So how can I fix this?

Probably the best thing to do is delete everything, including the prefs file, and start over from the beginning, following the instructions in exact detail. That always works!

TLTR is a common issue these days. ;)
Looking at the DropBox picture, I would add the standalone Prefs editor to set up the Prefs file.
http://www.emaculation.com/sheepshaver/ ... rPrefs.zip
Thats what I am doing all the time at least.
It can´t be stressed enough that all paths given in the Preferences should be checked again and again.

If the emulator still won´t boot, I would try a boot image known to work.
Here is a 7.5.3 one: http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/macos-753-emulators (First DL)
See the notes about the OldWorldROM, please.
Once you got things rolling, you may install 9.0.4 or lower on an empty image of the desired size.
Here are some collected: http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/disk-images-emulators
Smaller 2GB images will serve the same purpose, of course.
