Problems with SheepShaver on G4 Powermac
Posted: Fri Mar 23, 2018 8:26 pm
Hello,
I’d like to perform a clean install on my older G4 Powermac (serial# XB04206XJNX):
• PowerMac G4
• PowerPC, G4 @400 MHz
• 832 MB RAM
• OS 9.2.2 & OS X.0
Its hard drive needs to be repaired; won't boot due to an “invalid BTree Header ,0,0” error. Using both Disk First Aid (OS 9) and a TechTool Pro 3 CD proved to be ineffective.
I created a bootable flash drive by copying the OS 9 system folder - which works well - then recently downloaded the following to my newer iMac (OS X Yosemite):
• macos-922-uni.zip
• SheepShaver_UB_20140201.zip
I’ve run into the following problems following the directions on setting up SheepShaver
(https://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/sh ... os_x_setup):
• Unable to rename the macos-922-uni.iso file on either G4 Powermac or iMac. I unlocked both the flash drive and the disk image file on my iMac to make the name change. Still no success.
• Consequently (I imagine), SheepShaver won’t open on my G4 Powermac.
On my iMac I’ve tried:
1. Setting up SheepShaver as per the directions (not including of course, changing the name of the macos-922-uni.iso file as I was unable to...).
2. Putting the (locked) disk image file in the SheepShaver folder.
3. Ceating a Shared folder.
4. Using Target Mode to access my G4 Powermac hard drive.
5. Tried to open SheepShaver unsuccessfully. In fact, it was as though nothing had happened.
6. I opened the Console Window and tried to open SheepShaver again. The following information was logged:
• 3/20/18 6:49:47.629 PM Dock[259]: no information back from LS about running process LSASN:{hi=0x0;lo=0x8a08a}

SheepShaver neither opens on my iMac, nor my G4 Powermac when using the locked flash drive to effect a clean install of OS 9.2.2.
Please help. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks!
