installation time, performance, system specs etc.
It might be useful as moral support for those waiting and wondering, "how much longer will this take?"
Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition
Intel Pentium 4HT, 3000 MHz (3.75 x 800)
Asus P4P800, Intel Springdale i865PE w' PAT enabled
512 MB (2x256MB PC3200) RAM
2 hours 15 minutes
4:45 am
Started ppc.exe
Set priority realtime, (wouldn't do this if you don't have hyperthreading) then started the osx v10.3 installation.
6:45 a.m.
The installer script stage began and informed that the time remaining was about 32 minutes.
6:56 a.m.
Installer script time left changed to 28 minutes then soon after, to less than a minute. count down by seconds and then computer "rebooted".
6:57 a.m.
Restarted pearpc, set priority to above normal. selected osx partition.
7:03 a.m.
welcome!
So, this can be done in approx ...
2 hours 15 minutes
(or faster, i was downloading things with emule and surfing the web etc.)
amazing program, simply amazing

Self compiled PearPC 0.1.1 on Windows XP Pro
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Abit KV8-MAX3 mobo
1GB OCZ PC3200 EL RAM
120GB 7200RPM SATA HD
Response time 100ms
Everything installed except extra langauges and extra voices.
1 hour, 23 minutes. (yeah, I actually timed it with my watch from when I chose the packages)

P4 2.4ghz hyperthreaded 800mhz motherboard
512meg in 2 256meg matched pair ddr 400mhz
XP with all latest updates
4 hours but I was also running qemu which soaked 50%cpu according to task manager. When I killed qemu cpu load went down to 50% which was mainly pearpc.
I suspect it would have been more like 2 1/2 hours on a clean run.

Got 10.3 up and running on 2 systems. I wasn't keeping track of install time, so I can't really say how long it took.
AMD Athlon-M 2000+ Notebook
512mb DDR333- 64mb (shared video memory), 192 dedicated to pearpc when running
40GB 4200RPM ATA 133 HD
WinXP Home
Synaptics Touchpad
800x600 w/ redraw rate = 50
^^^It runs pretty smoothly on this system
Pentium 4 1.8GHz @ 2.2GHz Desktop

Maxtor 40GB 7200RPM ATA 133 HD (installed on this drive)
WinXP Home
Logitech MX700
800x600 w/ redraw rate = 105
For some reason, if I set the redraw any lower than 105, the program just starts choking, and I can't even see the mouse move

Just AIM and the occasional IE window or 5. F@H as well, but that is lowest priority.ataxy wrote:wow that was fast did you have any programm running at the same timeAvalant wrote:Self compiled PearPC 0.1.1 on Windows XP Pro

Try PearPC 0.2pre - It's much faster
I recommend everyone to use the 0.2pre Version of PearPC.
It seems to be much faster than the 0.1.2 release and gives me the possibility to run Mac OS X in a smooth way ready to do some work with.
Because I'm not able to build for myself, I tried a prebuild Version.
Download such a nightly build at:
http://www.richardgoodwin.com/pearpc/
Have Fun!
Micha
PS: My machine runs a athlon 1Ghz, 384 MB Ram. That's all.

heheh. maybe cos you're using a budget-pc duron?Amaranth wrote:PearPC 0.2pre on Windows XP (athlon xp optimized)
Duron 1.6Ghz
512MB SDRAM
Voodoo Banshee 16MB (i'm a programmer, why do i need graphics? )
Took 7 hours for the main stuff, the BSD Subsystem, and stuffit.
Runs like shit even if I give it 256MB RAM and run as Realtime priority.
PearPC pre2 does feel quicker...
I installed 10.3 (Disk 1 only duh!) last night in around 3+ hours...didn't think to time it.
used 3GB img file, and PearPC 1.2.
I have AMD XP 1900+
1GB memory
Maxtor DiamondMax+ 60GB 7200RMP
I adjusted memory in Ppc config file to 384MB ram before install...used default 128 value on first attempt (bad img file) and saw an increased respnse during initial OS load screens (might just be me though).
After the install, set redraw to 100.
took like 6-8 minutes to boot OS with 0.1.2 Ppc
Switched to pre2 AMD Optimized nightly build and can feel a difference. It is **Almost** usable.
