As someone mentioned earlier, a custom linux kernal to boot directly into a PearPC install would be incredible.
I would imagine it would be much simpler and safer giving PearPC direct access to true hardware that way (video, sound, and hard drive) so it could be used as an OS as it matured.
The only problem I see with this is with installing drivers for your own hardware since each x86 system is typically different.

Hi
I would like to have the option
- TO SAVE THE CURRENT RAM contents and load it again later (faster "boot up")
Other than that:
- Support of native IDE devices, incl. CD burners
- Networking on windows
- fullscreen mode
- some kind of use of native graphics (if it's even possible)
Thanks again...

Future versions of Pear PC
I've tried pearpc-0.1.2-win32-jitc ( with Jaguar installed ). My wish list for the future versions of Pear PC would be ( in order of importance ):
1 Speed ( now is way too slow to do anything )
2 Internet Connection ( definitely a must )
3 Able to transfer / copy files created in Mac Drive ( Pear PC ) to PC Drive and vice versa
4 CDRW / CDR / CD Rom support ( able to write CD using Toast & read files directly from CD )
5 More PC hardware compatibility ( PC Printer, Monitor, Scanner & Camera, MP3 Player & other USB Devices )
Anyway, no matter what Pear PC is an awesome achievement. This is truely the work of genius minds.

Try the latest 0.2pre version from here, it's much faster.
here is my wish-list
-Speed (they're working on it)
-Network Support (they're working on it)
-Graphics card direct support
-Fullscreen support (without the patched executable)
-Physical CD support
-But most of all, I want PearPC to be built on top of Linux, as an OS. That would knock my socks off and rock the block. Speed would be greatly increased, and would kick ass.
(More wishes to be added as I think of them)
--edit--
-Sound!!! I can't believe i forgot that.

Actually, SoftPear is doing something like that. Since we already have an x86 version of Darwin (the underlying core of OS X), they are attempting to build the REST of OS X on top of x86 Darwin. In other words, they're just porting the GUI, not the entire OS. This could potentially lead to a true x86 version of OS X that would run on any PC without the need for emulation.liquex wrote:-But most of all, I want PearPC to be built on top of Linux, as an OS.

Softpear will indeed run on x86 darwin, but all mac osx related code will have to be run through an emu. Sort of like what apple did when the changed from to powerpc, for a long time the OS was a mush of 68000 code and powerpc code.CaptainValor wrote:Actually, SoftPear is doing something like that. Softpear looks interesting and if it gets somewhere it's going to be the best bet for running osx on X86 but it's very unlikely they'll ever be a windows port (Unless it's like colinux) it's goign to be a complete replacement OS.
