I'd like it if it had support for MacOS7, 8 and 9 (as well as support for osx and linux)

1. Network support for Windows (one can only hope :) )
2. Hibernation.
3. Pause option perhaps so you don't have to shutdown OS-X when you need to regain your system's resources for a brief moment. My CPU is usually at 100% when PearPC is running.

1. Network support (really need it,.....so i can view those Windows Virus soruce code and open viruses on my e-mail account ...and check them on the Mac....)

2. Laptop support (well , hopefully the emulated mac will display the battert bar)

3. Less CPU usage....(well , otherwise....everything gets hot)

Thats all...

Optimisation for older processors like the Pentium three, so people with older computers who don't want to upgrade can use it at decent speeds.

Make use of 64bit archetecture in processors such as the AMD Athlon64.

Dual Proccessor support would be nice (But only useful if the emu speeds up signifacntly)
Accurate timings

Softpear if it ever gets anywhere looks like a better option for speed at least.

Yes, but Softpear is still in development, whereas PPC is out and being actively improved now. ;)

Would like to see higher sampling rate for mouse movement. This would give smoother operation than just adjusting redraw interval.

As someone mentioned earlier, a custom linux kernal to boot directly into a PearPC install would be incredible.
I would imagine it would be much simpler and safer giving PearPC direct access to true hardware that way (video, sound, and hard drive) so it could be used as an OS as it matured.
The only problem I see with this is with installing drivers for your own hardware since each x86 system is typically different.

How about someone maintaining a hardware compatibility list?

Hi

I would like to have the option

- TO SAVE THE CURRENT RAM contents and load it again later (faster "boot up")

Other than that:

- Support of native IDE devices, incl. CD burners
- Networking on windows
- fullscreen mode
- some kind of use of native graphics (if it's even possible)

Thanks again...

Future versions of Pear PC

Post by Bootylicious »

I've tried pearpc-0.1.2-win32-jitc ( with Jaguar installed ). My wish list for the future versions of Pear PC would be ( in order of importance ):

1 Speed ( now is way too slow to do anything )
2 Internet Connection ( definitely a must )
3 Able to transfer / copy files created in Mac Drive ( Pear PC ) to PC Drive and vice versa
4 CDRW / CDR / CD Rom support ( able to write CD using Toast & read files directly from CD )
5 More PC hardware compatibility ( PC Printer, Monitor, Scanner & Camera, MP3 Player & other USB Devices )

Anyway, no matter what Pear PC is an awesome achievement. This is truely the work of genius minds.

here is my wish-list :)

-Speed (they're working on it)
-Network Support (they're working on it)
-Graphics card direct support
-Fullscreen support (without the patched executable)
-Physical CD support

-But most of all, I want PearPC to be built on top of Linux, as an OS. That would knock my socks off and rock the block. Speed would be greatly increased, and would kick ass.

(More wishes to be added as I think of them)

--edit--

-Sound!!! I can't believe i forgot that.

Actually, SoftPear is doing something like that. Since we already have an x86 version of Darwin (the underlying core of OS X), they are attempting to build the REST of OS X on top of x86 Darwin. In other words, they're just porting the GUI, not the entire OS. This could potentially lead to a true x86 version of OS X that would run on any PC without the need for emulation. :)

Softpear will indeed run on x86 darwin, but all mac osx related code will have to be run through an emu. Sort of like what apple did when the changed from to powerpc, for a long time the OS was a mush of 68000 code and powerpc code.

Softpear looks interesting and if it gets somewhere it's going to be the best bet for running osx on X86 but it's very unlikely they'll ever be a windows port (Unless it's like colinux) it's goign to be a complete replacement OS.

Hey, I wouldn't mind running OS X as a complete replacement OS. ;)
