Panther on 3CD's install

Post by Skyliner34 »

Hi.

My friend has Panther. But not the DVD version. He has the 3 disk version. Will this work with PearPC 0.2pre?

Thanks

I would recommend you just install the first disc though unless you are willing to be very patient and wait for the entire thing to to install. My full install of 10.3 was around 8 hours. With just the first disc I got the install in right at 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Thanks for the reply.

So I just make 3 iso files , and start with disk 1, then boot Panther, and install the extras from CD2 and 3 within panther?

How do I make sure that I only use CD1, and that I havent ticked something that asks for CD2?

How do I swap CD's using PearPC. Dont U have to restart it, if so wouldnt the install quit?

Thanks

Hi,
I would recommend the following two links:

How to install Panther *without* Darwin:

How to swap discs:

I agree with scriptkiddie. Only install the first disc at install time. You can then get StuffIt etc.. from the second disc when the system is set up and really save yourself some time.
