weirdness with 0.3pre when trying to boot 10.3

Post by iplayband07 »

I don't know if this is a bug with ppc or if there is something wrong with my config file.. but this is what happens..

I start PearPC and choose the partition to boot then the grey screen with the apple and little spinny thing comes up for a few minutes.. and then my window shrinks to where you can only see the 3 buttons on the title bar.. does anyone know whats wrong? :? heres a screenshot

Yup that is the same problem I am having. I got this problem on the latest .3pre. I'm sure the next pre.3 build will fix that. :D

Remember that the 0.2 version is still a pre-release, so any pre-pre-releases are bound to have plenty of bugs coming and going as new builds are available.

It's probably a good idea to keep hold of a build that you know is working every time you get a new one so that you can revert to it if there are too many bugs in the new build.

I did the install of Panther with .3pre and I got the same error.
When I did the install w/ .2 and then opened with .3pre all was fine.

I think that's common - there are a few posts advising people to install with the official version and then upgrade if they want to. It saves a lot of install problems...

Might wanna try this....Edit your config file to read the following..

Current:

Code: Select all

## Resolution
##
##	0: 640x480x15
##	1: 640x480x32
##	2: 800x600x15
##	3: 800x600x32
##	4: 1024x768x15
##	5: 1024x768x32
##
##	default: 2

ppc_start_resolution = "3"
Try changing it to:

Code: Select all

## Resolution
##
##	0: 640x480x15
##	1: 640x480x32
##	2: 800x600x15
##	3: 800x600x32
##	4: 1024x768x15
##	5: 1024x768x32
##
##	default: 2

ppc_start_resolution = "800x600x32"
or whatever your OSX resolution range is. [/quote]

I have the same problem, and i always try to run the newest dl.

I tried to adjust the start up resolution and that is what started the problem.

I have the start up res and the osx res set to the same and i can get it to start.

itried putting them to the same resolution but it still causes the problem.. could it be because i have it on 1280x768x32?

Prehaps...set it to that....if that doesn't work set it at the 800x600x32 and see if that works for you.

i ended up reinstalling panther because i was also having problems with my login account because osx changed my password..(don't know how) so i couldn't install anything... etc.

I used .2 to install and then tried .3pre and it works great.. what a speed difference! and the clock works right

My "mac" thinks its a 700MHz G3 with 400MB memory.. :D
