Eeeep! I make myself cry.

Post by Groffy77 »

About a half hour ago I was clearing my desktop and selected the pearpc folder, which is too large for the recycle bin, so I didn't notice I selected it and deleted it on axident! Now I am re-isoing all 3 discs and making the HD again. This will take all day to fix! :cry:

But earlier I was using Mac OS X Panther, it works GREAT, I was in the process of getting my internet to work. I don't really care about the sound.

Does anyone know a good memory setting to set the config file at? My computer is running 512 and 2.0 Ghz, I have been using 228 and 428. (Only 428 when I'm not working on anything, just playing around with Mac in fullscreen.

I'm sorry to hear that man.
Config below works for me:
Set redraw interval much lower since your specs are much higher than mine.

## PearPC Configuration File
## Created with PearGUI
ppc_start_resolution = "640x480x32"
redraw_interval_msec = 302
prom_bootmethod = "select"
prom_env_bootargs = ""
prom_env_machargs = ""
prom_driver_graphic = "video.x"
key_compose_dialog = "F11"
key_change_cd_0 = "none"
key_toggle_mouse_grab = "F12"
key_toggle_full_screen = "Alt+Return"
memory_size=0x8000000
pci_ide0_master_installed = 1
pci_ide0_master_image = "C:\OSX\PantherImage.img"
pci_ide0_slave_installed = 1
pci_ide0_slave_image = "F:\Mac Os X 10.3 Panther Cd1.iso"
pci_usb_installed = 1
nvram_file = "nvram"

About the recycle bin: Microsoft made people say "wow!" when they showed the "new" recycle bin with windows 95. Did you know that apple had their "trash can" already in the first system software version(1984)? I think it's the only thing that took microsoft so long to copy from apple/mac.

Right after I posted this I changed my Bin size allow thing to 50% of my HD, so everything I will delete. WILL go in the recycling bin. But this time when I install it, I'm going to get Tiger on it after. (Try it out and see how it works.)

Who else went to the Tiger preview thingy?

Meh, esthetically, it's the same thing as panther; with a few more apps/extensions and a little more, tweaked out, eye candy.

I wanted to test Tiger out on my real mac, but in the readme file it said that I couldn't upgrade to the official Tiger when it comes out. So...I decided to install Tiger on my iPod, and boot from that. It worked! Tiger's pretty rocking. People are already developing gadgets for Tiger at http://www.thedashboarder.com. Check it out. Pretty cool.

You installed Tiger on your iPod? Can you install the Mac OS on an iPod? How do you do it?

The iPod doesn't run OSX, it just stores it, since macs can boot off firewire. Some people are using it for backup purposes.

:? I found out that the iPod doesn't seem to be able to keep both Mac OS X's files and the iPod's boot files together. I know there's a way to do this, but I just don't know how. Anyone have a link to a site that explains this? I think I'm getting a little bit closer...

EDIT: Jeez. I was really overthinking this one. I got it to work. Step 1: Configure your iPod. Step 2: Install Mac OS. You don't even want to know what I was trying to do.

Well, technically you are installing the Mac OS X onto the iPod, but you can't boot your iPod from it. [/code]

Just doesn't have the same appeal...I think I'll just stick to listening to music on mine. :)

Well , thats a good one , you could carry it anyway

If you have a Real Mac, you could connect it and mount the IMG as a Disk Image and do ajustments on the Disk...(I love that Toool......I can even boot OSX from the iPod and it will serve as a Backup OSX...just incase OSX/9 fails on my Mac)

Is there anything Linux can't run on... What's the site for the Linux on iPod project?
