YAONNH (Yet another one needing networking help)
Hello, I installed pearpc 3 days ago, and I've been trying to get pearpc work with networking implemented, but I have nothing to tell except failure stories, which is exactly what I am going to tell:
I followed various networking guides, I installed Win-TAP32 and followed the steps as it said. I remember that 3 or 4 months ago I managed to get internet to work on os x with no problem.
Now I've tried bridged networking ICS, like 1002000202039049 IPs routers and DNS and I am getting more than frustrated.
When I check the netowrking status in OS X it says everything is fine (green light) but when I open IE or Safari no server is reachable.
Current Config:
TCP/IP Win 32
IP: 192.168.0.64
(also tried 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.1)
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
(that should be it but just in case I've also used DNSs and gateway)
on Mac OS X
(since DHCP didn't work, I had to configure manually)
IP: 192.168.0.XX (all combinations possible)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.0.64
(every time I changed the Tap 32 IP I chaned the router)
DNS: 192.168.0.64
I've tried Realtek and 3COM drivers and still nothing!
Also I might need a little help with bridged networking.... Do I need to change the IPs from the Bridge?
And if you have to. Which should I use?
I also tried reinstalling OPEN VPN and disabling ICS, also uninstalling net card from OS X and trying again but with no success.
Please Help

Why don't you give this a try:
1. Un-bridge everything
2. Set ip-address of normal nic to 192.168.0.1 and use normal subnetmask and dns entries from your ISV, Check to see if you can access the internet. If so, continue:
3. Set ip-address of tap to 192.168.1.1 and subnetmask to 255.255.255.0
no gateway/router, no dns
4. Bridge connections
5. In Mac OSX set ip-address to 192.168.1.2 Use 192.168.1.1 as router, and make shure you enter your normal dns (from the regular nic) entries here too
good luck,

No luck
I tried both suggestions, I had a little bit more faith on the first one, I still get green light but no connection
The second one, when I tried to changed my phsyical NIC to 192.168.1.1 it got disconnected... meaning that it didn't work... I also tried the proxy method... Didn't work either...
I am going to try the vmware method that has been recently posted.

Yes, thanks Cat7 but if I switch my Physical's NIC IP to 192.168.0.1 it gets disconnected.
Anyway I'm giving up.
I've tried many things with no success.
Anyways if I am online with PearPC if I ping my OS X address in Windows, should I get any specific results?
Also with my TAP Virtual NIC it seems that the only IP that receives packages is 192.168.0.1 (which is the one that windows assigned to it)
so based on that I tried this config in Mac:
IP: 192.168.0.2
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 (same as TAP)
Router: 192.168.0.1
DNS: 192.168.0.1
I tried all this process with 192.168.1.1 and got nothing, I also tried my ISP DNSs but still got nothing. I'm out of ideas so if anyone can help please do.
Another request: Anyone still got the http://www.kelley.ca/pearpc/ networking guide?
If anyone does please share it
Edit: Hmmm weird.
When I ping 192.168.0.2 when PearPC is not running I get 4 packages received and everything works fine but when I open PearPC and ping the same address (192.168.0.2) I get: Request Timed Out.
I guess this should be something.
The current IP in my TAP32 is 192.168.0.1
Edit 2: Which is even weirder.
The IPs that I ping succesfully won't receive any packages when I open PearPC, There is just something wrong there. There got to be something wrong there.

Looks like there is a 192.168.0.2 in your real network. Try settings your tap adapter to something uncommon, like 10.0.0.1, and the OSX adapter to 10.0.0.2 (don't worry, these addresses are defined as "private" just like 192.168.x.x). Note that with these settings the subnet mask should be 255.0.0.0.
Ok so I tried setting my TAP to
IP 10.0.0.1
subnet 255.0.0.0
in OS X
Ip 10.0.0.2
Subnet 255.0.0.0
Router 10.0.0.1
DNS 10.0.0.1 (also tried with my DNSs)
I can actually ping 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.1 in CMD successfully even when pearpc is running.
I can also ping 10.0.0.2 in Mac but I can't ping 10.0.0.1
IP 10.0.0.1
subnet 255.0.0.0
in OS X
Ip 10.0.0.2
Subnet 255.0.0.0
Router 10.0.0.1
DNS 10.0.0.1 (also tried with my DNSs)
I can actually ping 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.1 in CMD successfully even when pearpc is running.
I can also ping 10.0.0.2 in Mac but I can't ping 10.0.0.1
