PearPC Installation System

Post by The Balance Of Judgement »

I'm working on a PearPC installer at this time, so this thread is a bit of a preview and a lookout for anything folks think should be included. I'm in the proccess of contacting those who made additions and extras for PearPC to have thier files included, so that there will be a full available suit of GUI's, applications etc.

This installer will install two versions of PearPC, the current version plus one revision earlier in the event a recent change damaged a feature.

It will also include some basic documents to get users started, then point users to other sites where a list of guides is available.

I plan on keeping this installer up to date, so as PearPC continues to mature, I will update the installer to reflect on the new versions. I also will be instructing the installer to associate certian file extensions for PearPC configuration files so that you can create configuration files and simply click them to launch the emulator. A basic preferences file will be created already and special links so that you can start the emulator in one go.

Any ideas, suggestions etc.? I'm about a day or two away from having the installer be ready.

Wow, another PearPc installer?
I think there's a definate need for better GUI's for PearPC.
Especially stuff like the networking section should get automated.
This is very OS X-specific...but for what else do people use PearPC???

PearPC was originally intended to run PowerPC linux's on the x86 architecture.

The installer is ready.

Please do note that Version 0.3.1 of PearPC is acting very strange regarding keycodes. Most versions of PearPC should boot from the start menu, although you will need to edit thier config files to use them better.

Have fun, and please be sure to report bugs etc.

No. PearPC was intended to run PowerPC OS'es on x86 processors, not just Linux'es.
