Doesn't Nero allow you to drop down the 'File Type' box and select *.iso as an option?

It shouldn't do. It is just a normal programme like Microsoft Office and internet explorer are. However it may make your computer run really slow, but that is just when pearpc is running.

hope that helps

I tried setting up PearPC but always I start up the program I get an error stating there is no bootable partition.

Here's an excerpt from my ppccfg.example file:

pci_ide0_master_installed = 1
pci_ide0_master_image = "pearpc-6gib.img"
#pci_ide0_master_type = "hd"

pci_ide0_slave_installed = 1
#pci_ide0_slave_image = "Mac OS 8.5.iso"
pci_ide0_slave_image = "x:\Mac Emulation\Mac Os X 10.3 Panther Cd1.nrg"
#pci_ide0_slave_image = "/dev/cdrom"
pci_ide0_slave_type = "cdrom"

So, what is wrong?
I have placed the 6GB disk image file in the emulator folder, I placed the OS X image in the above mentioned folder, additionally I have placed a Mac OS 8.5 image in the same folder (although I don't know what I am supposed to write into the config file.
Who can tell me, how it would be right?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thx,

Cyman

Heh, you might wanna learn what a comment is, try this:

pci_ide0_master_installed = 1
pci_ide0_master_image = "pearpc-6gib.img"
pci_ide0_master_type = "hd"

pci_ide0_slave_installed = 1
pci_ide0_slave_image = "x:\Mac Emulation\Mac Os X 10.3 Panther Cd1.nrg"
pci_ide0_slave_type = "cdrom"

Not only that, but .nrg files are not standard ISOs I believe. You need to convert it to .iso first.

i dont know if it may help but i am using a logitech usb mouse
Could you enable the mouse, while you OSX CD is booting and NOT disable it again, or is it the PearPC programme that is crashing, not the MacOSX installer?
no thats it the problem is that as soon as i select the partition to boot if i do f12 it does not crash it sort of get stuck on hold if i disable the mouse it continues to boot if i enable the mouse again it goes back on hold but it does not crash but now if i let i go it will start to boot the cd but then after a while i end up on a screen where they ask me for the language installation but i cant choose anything since if i enable the mouse it just stays stuck so i cant move the cursor to chose the language i want .
anyway here is a screenshot of where i stay stuck and if you look in the top left you can see the cursor wich is there but i cant do nothing with it

Try boot_method 'force' and specify a 'prom_loadfile' in your config file..."

dah! this is incredible!

ok, im having the same problem.. no bootable partition.. im trying to install darwin on a 3gb drive..

Code: Select all

pci_ide0_master_installed = 1
pci_ide0_master_image = "pearpc-3gib.img"
#pci_ide0_master_type = "hd"

pci_ide0_slave_installed = 1
pci_ide0_slave_image = "darwin-701.iso"
#pci_ide0_slave_image = "macosx.img"
#pci_ide0_slave_image = "/dev/cdrom"
pci_ide0_slave_type = "cdrom"
thats my configfile.. and its saying 'no bootable partitions'..

it gives the alternative to force a boot, but its beyond me..
I also want to know if Darwin is needed and if so, which version? The PPC or the X86 version?

I created an image from my mac osx cd with nero6 but its extension was .nrg and with nrg2iso(on linux) i converted it to iso.
but after selecting : 1.partition 9 of 'cdrom0' (Mac_OS_X/Apple_HFS)
it closed with this error: [IO/PROM] <Error> unknown interpret size 1972
also I must say I have mac osx 10.1 cd.
thanks.
from what i heard it only boots 10.2 or 10.3 everything below that as problem
yes it was a problem with mac osx 10.1 and it works fine with mac osx 10.3 now.
good luck.

It's better to try BlindWrite with "ISO Image" profile. It worked well for me.

Gemulator won't work - All the menu items are grayed out, and I tried BlindWrite but it doesn't show any ISO profiles. :(

What's wrong?

P.S.: I'm using a Jaguar CD.

Guest (why won't you register?),

Have you tried NERO?= There is a tutorial right here:

http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=245

Makes ISO images instead of IMG images. They might work.

Ahh sorry - Forgot to log in. Also, I'm not the same Guest that made the earlier posts.

Thanks for the tut ClockWise, but Nero only allows me to save as .nrg - there is no option for ISO. What's up with that? :(

Ah, I don't know. I just followed the tutorial. It has screenshots and everything. But you saw that, I guess - maybe it is a problem of Enterprise edition vs. Shareware edition. I dunno.

select read from the left menu.
then select your cd/dvd rom device.
choose the path and file type in destination section.
in the settings section select iso image.
after all click on read.
sorry for english mistakes :P

I finally got it to run.

When I went to sleep last night I became aware of the .nrg image problem not being recognized by the emulator. Then I tried converting it with several image tools, but I had no success. After that I tried it with Nero, converting my CD into an ISO file (I followed the instruction posted in some link above) and voilà - it worked!
I'm so happy, I can't tell you!
