Hi there, am i right thinking that ppc wont boot anything other than iso images made from mac disks? I did see some linux references in the ppccfg.example file.

Is it legal to create a bootable iso image of MacOSX without installing it, i.e. just to get the emulator booted.

Apologies if this is already described elsewhere.

PPC will boot powerpc linux and macosx and you osx images can be created using most disk image creation programmes on windows (alcohol 120% and gemulator I think are the most popular for creating images for pearpc), and it is not iliegal to make an image of your osx disk, as long as you don't have macosx running on another computer at the same time as pearpc.

Not familiar with PowerPC linux, only x86 linux distros. Did try all the recommended iso image creators and even tried a phreatron boot iso image but I still get the non bootable volume error.

I prefer to use iso images anyway on emulation as I had a bad experience involving cdenable.sys, Basilisk II and the dvd drive from a vaio.

I thought so, I had the 10.3 img file to start with, but on advice swapped this for the 10.2 version.

I posted elsewhere that I have ordered a copy of 10.2 from ebay, and when I figure out how to create iso images from mac disks, I should have all the bits I need to get it to work.

I dont mind how long it takes as long as a) it boots most of the time and b) i can get the internet to work :)

The internet probably won't work on thw windows version of PearPC, as networking is not supported on windows. It might work on the linux version though.
