E-Maculation is Twenty Years Old!
Hey, we turn twenty years old this week. How about that?
Re: E-Maculation is Twenty Years Old!
Congrats to all involved !
It was a amazing ride up to now. I still sometimes marvel at the seemingly effortless international collaboration.
Nevertheless, we also withered some storms unbeknown to the general public.
Of those 20 years, I only witnessed 3/4 of them, as I joined on Fri Feb 13, 2004 10:59 am
But here's to the next 20 years
Best,
Cat_7

Great to have had you here all these years! The site would not exist without your contributions.
Here's a fun WayBackMachine link:

You can see that the site was abandoned back in September of 1999. Good thing we made it through that storm!
Here's a link to our first attempt at a forum:

I guess that launched that same month, September of 1999.

Congratulations to you, MeanE / ClockWise, and to all of us.
I joined in February 2006, had a problem while trying to configure SheepShaver. After I found the cause of the issue, Cat_7 responded:

Little did I know then that I would still be involved the way I am now, thirteen years later.Good to see that the Dutch can still solve their own problems.

Re: E-Maculation is Twenty Years Old!
I appear to have almost split the difference! After only seeing Clockwise on Hotline servers, then lurking on the various iterations of here for 10 years, then having an account for almost 10...
Re: E-Maculation is Twenty Years Old!
Well, thank you for what all of you have put in over the years!
Also, this site has been very inspiring to me. I don't think I'd ever have begun working with Terminal and even Linux otherwise. For me it began six years ago with installing tuntaposx and having a shell script start SheepShaver with AppleTalk, according to Cat_7's guide. It has been a sometimes frustrating, yet very interesting learning curve since.

Living in Holland as an EU citizen, for me it's rather the Dutch solving my problems.Ronald P. Regensburg wrote:Good to see that the Dutch can still solve their own problems.

I think this site could use some documents on how Macs actually work rather than just list what programs can emulate Macs. But that aside, happy belated twentieth anniversary.

God help me it means I known you now for 20 years.
Back in my day Emaculation covered news of two commercial m68k products and 2 open source ones.
Still annoyed we never got to see Fusion PPC.

To be honest I dont know if the sale of Fusion from Jim Drew to Darek included the Fusion PPC product. As alot of it was based around there amiga product that had updated hw support but did not need an emulation core as Accelerated Amigas had PPC chips.
I am going back through the archives and the sale of fusion does not mention the ppc variant. So it is supposedly on a floppy some where there is a very beta version.

Yes Mike, it is me. I come back every once and while to see where the scene is at.
Re: E-Maculation is Twenty Years Old!
Ahh, it was twenty years ago that I left my local Apple-dominated school board behind and moved on to university, where the labs were stocked with Windows 9x PCs. Younger me would be quite enthralled with the range of tools available today.
It was vaguely satisfying around 14 years ago when I took a moment to get Clarisworks 4.0 running under Sheepshaver, but alas, by then I had moved on. The Powermac 6100 I salvaged at that time has pretty much only collected dust since then, along with the MacOS 9 CD that Darek gave away in a contest around that time. But who knows what the future might yet hold?

Re: E-Maculation is Twenty Years Old!
A rather belated Happy Birthday .
I got an AmigaOne XE G4 machine a couple of years ago. Funny to think that those are now becoming 'vintage'. I wonder if I can run MOL on it. I keep meaning to try out Linux on my various PPC systems.
