To summarise: North Korea has this OSX's copycat system called Red Star OS. They built it over a Linux system and tampered with the source code to make it way creepier.
What strikes me is the similarity with OSX compared to any other Open-source UIs:

Nice finding. Even closer to the original GUI than PearOS or Elementary.

I seem to recall back in the day someone took the WMI they developed it and installed it on vanilla KDE3 WM. I seem to recall that a few of the widgets didn't place quite accurately; that was version 1.0 though, they might have fixed that.
