The Secret History of Mac Gaming book
My side project of the past two years: https://unbound.co.uk/books/macgaming
It's a narrative-style history of Mac gaming, full of stories about the people, communities, and ideas behind the Mac games of the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. If you've enjoyed my feature articles on MacScene, Ars, and elsewhere, you'll likely enjoy this.
As will be evident to anyone hitting that link, though, I need some help getting this published in the format I want. We're crowdfunding for the production costs on a beautiful hardback print edition with a really nice finish and screenshots and other documents mixed in with the ~100k words.

Thanks, Mossy! I hope the funding goes well for you I've found that a number of sources for old info like this appear to be vanishing, so really appreciate the work you've done in putting it all in one place

looks super cool!
Just one question, what is that Author's shed one would get access to?

Looks nice!
I've always enjoyed your writing, and will kick in a few bucks today or tomorrow!

It's Unbound's equivalent to Kickstarter updates. By pledging you get access to any private (i.e., backer-only) posts I make. Right now most updates will be public, but I'll probably flip that around and make most private after the campaign finishes (assuming we reach the goal).MetalSnake wrote:looks super cool!

So it's a little bit late... but I am now a backer. Can't wait to read the book!

Here's a promotional activity that looks like fun:
"Mark your calendar: Escape Velocity livestream with Matt Burch June 23rd 8pm Pacific
I'll be playing Ambrosia Software classic Escape Velocity with its creator Matt Burch live on Twitch.tv next week, on Thursday the 23rd of June at 8pm Pacific. That's 11pm for US east coasters, 1pm Friday here in Melbourne, and 4am in the UK (sorry). If you can't make it, you'll be able to watch a replay afterwards. But if you can then you'll be able to ask questions in the chat for us to answer (and help me navigate the game after having not played in years).

Mossy's book is now fully funded, but you can still make a contribution.
I'm excited!

Mossy's been promoting it a bit on social media too... I look forward to the results!
