Scarab of Ra in a Web Browser

Post by ClockWise »

Scarab of Ra (one of the great Macintosh shareware titles) has been recreated in Java and is playable in a web browser. Check it out:

Just don't forget to pay your shareware dues:

Wow! I didn't know Kagi still existed!

Having beaten Scarab of Ra numerous times, and even written my own sequel in Hypercard, I'm probably not going to play the new version -- I always preferred Theldrow back in the day. But it's definitely a piece of Mac history :)

That's awesome. You should share that sequel if it still exists.

I've been meaning to do a Theldrow play through for ages. Maybe use vMac to do a retro "Let's Play" video.

Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of the sequel anymore -- lost it in a floppy failure decades ago. However, it was used as a programming demo in some local schools at the time, so it may still exist somewhere :)

Or, you could play the *actual* Scarab of Ra on a Mac, in your web browser, here:

Sorry for all the shameless advertising. I'm trying build up the audience for my site; you know, all three people in the world that could possibly care at this point

Unless it's networked, I just play it on my (locked) phone in Mini vMac :D Still no LocalTalk for MinivMac4ios.

If you do any retro "Let's Play" videos, feel free to post links to them on apple.wikia.com -- I'm trying to get a collection of videos of classic Apple OSes in action on there.

Does "Scarab of Ra" have a networked mode? I don't recall seeing one. Wouldn't a dual-player "Scarab of Ra" just be MazeWars?

Yeah; I thought i was in the MazeWars topic and then decided to let it stand :D

I've never heard of networked Ra.

But networked Cairo Shootout would be a blast!
