This system is now notarized for Catalina, and contains a copy of SheepShaver that uses the current 2.0.10 version of the SDL2 framework.

Thanks to Ronald's confirmation of problems with SDL2 version 2.0.10, I've reverted this app to SDL2 version 2.0.9.

I am using one of those OS 9 configs mentioned in the OP ;)
on windows 10 just want to play this one retro game. The deal where you drop the file on the icon isn't doing anything.
In fact the only way I could get the game file was to download this 600 MB iso...which could only be opened with Toast 2.5. So I can see the file in Toast, and it says it extracts it to windows, but it doesn't show up in file explorer.
Sorry to be such a noob. I'm usually on top of this sort of thing, but primarily with windows. Many thanks in advance.

It's not clear what you dropped on the icon; that feature (under Windows) is designed to copy files from Windows to MacOS, not to run games. Since you didn't say what file you dropped on the icon, there's no way to guess what happened.

If you want to mount the toast file in SheepShaver, you'll need to find it in Windows and then add it to the list of disks in the SheepShaver GUI. I've never used Toast under Windows (if that's where you're using it) so I can't help, but presumably Toast will tell you where it extracted the file.

Since you didn't give a link to the file itself, there's no way to be more helpful.

This system now uses the 25 July 2020 revision of SheepShaver by kanjitalk755. Also, the AppleScript wrapper has been updated so that it will run smoothly on Macs that have an updated operating system later this year.

The macOS version of this is now a universal app that runs natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.

In response to a post on the forum a few weeks ago, I've updated the Windows version of this system so you can drop a disk image file on the application, and MacOS9 will start up with the dropped disk image mounted (during this one session only). The macOS version of this system already had this ability; I've merely added it to the Windows version.

Thanks to Ronald's patient advice, I've now updated the Windows version of this system with the latest SheepShaver code. I've also updated a System 7.6.1 counterpart based on the latest BasiliskII code. You'll need to search for

MacOS9 for Windows

because the forum rightly forbids direct links to pre-built systems like these.

These apps, for macOS and Windows, are now updated with the latest code from kanjitalk755 (to whom a million thanks).

The macOS version now uses kanjitalk755's updated code that allows Script Editor 1.4.3 to run without crashing SheepShaver. The forum now allows a link to the page where you can download the file, so here it is:

I've updated the MacOS version of this system with a. disk image that Disk First Aid verifies without reporting any problems. Earlier copies had a disk image with errors that (as adespoton warned me) could eventually cause the image to be corrupted. Same download link:

And the Windows version doesn't have the disk errors that were in the macOS version.

This system has now been updated with kanjitalk755's latest code, so you can mount an IMG file by dropping it into the SheepShaver window:

And I got around to updating the Windows version also:

If your browser gives you a 404 error, that's because it changed http:// to https://. Change it back.
