Is there any acceleration with a Mac OS X 10.13 host or is there possibly something i installed wrong.

Hello,

No, you didn't do anything wrong. Speed is highly dependent on the host, but is generally slow. This due to lack of host-assisted graphics and poor FPU performance.
Only Mac OS 9.x guests perform really well.

That said, when I run it on my 2015 MBP, it runs 10.14.11 at the same speed I remember running it on my iMac DV SE. Audio is spotty and anything really graphics or FPU-intensive slows to a crawl, but the general operation of the OS is usable. It's a lot slower than running either on my G4 Minis though. And those are MUCH slower than we're used to things running these days.
