Are there good MacOS 8.0 floppy images?

The #18 disk image from MR seems corrupted.
If just mount the first 17 disk images, the installation process could be started.

otherwise it prompts:

The Installer document "Install System Software" is damaged. Make sure you are using the original Installer disks and try again.

Any reason why you do not use a 8.0 or 8.1 CD image as can be found on macintoshgarden.org?

I've just tried it in Basiliskii on Windows 10, it installs and runs fine.

That should be related to my 64bit windows 7 host.
And Basilisk could not hook the ALT+F4 too.

Maybe I found the reason.
If more than 18 disks are mounted, It prompts the error message before the "Welcome to Mac OS 8" splash screen
v0.8.142 and BasiliskII-Windows-23-08-2023, both recur exactly.

I just asked my friend to test MacOS 8 floppy version installation in BasiliskII_27_08_2008 on Windows 11 64bit.
Same error.

You may want to mount the disk images and copy the mounted disks to a folder on a drive image. Run the installer from the root of that drive image, and it should find the "disks" in the folder. I believe this is common starting around Mac OS 7.6 (although it depends on the installer used).

But then, the CD image is essentially the floppy disks in a folder on a CD. So I'm not quite sure what you're accomplishing?

if it's a bug in Basilisk II, I hope it could be fixed if possible.

Not a bug, but a limitation. There's a max number of disk images IIRC. You can change the value and compile yourself; more images requires more resources.

The other limitation of course is that you can't live-"insert" a disk image in BII, so you can't get around it by ejecting one and inserting another. This has been partially fixed on macOS now, by enabling disk images to be dragged over the desktop window to mount them.

There is another solution: copy the Utilities disk contents to the HD image and bless the System folder. Reboot, and copy all the disk image files onto the HD image via the Shared Folder. Use DiskCopy to mount the disk image files inside the emulator, and run the installer.
