Printing from BII to Windows with System 7.5.5

Post by Frozen001 »

Is it possible to print from BII while running System 7.5.5 on a windows host? The hot-to I found seems to talk about OS 8.X.

This isn't exactly what you're asking for, but if you search the web for

macsys761installer

you'll find a System 7.6.1 setup for Windows that prints to the default Windows printer. Ignore the fact that the page title refers to OS 9; you'll find a section on 7.6.1 lower on the page. Forum rules forbid a direct link, so you'll have to do a search.

Where did you find that how-to about 8.1? I've never found anything else that can print from Basilisk to Windows.

Hi,

This depends on what solution you are looking for. At least the simple solution using printtopdf to write a pdf file to the host works in 7.5.

Some remarks at the top of the printing guide about the needed Desktop Printer Utility, like the note that you may need to upgrade from MacOS 8.0 to 8.1, may give the impression that you need MasOS 8, but the LaserWriter 8.5.1 software and the included Desktop Printer Utility will work in System 6.x through MacOS 9.
