Mouse: Reverse Y direction?

Post by gingerbeardman »

In this manual https://www.emaculation.com/b2manual/Ba ... Manual.pdf

it mentions Reverse Y direction for mouse?

But I can't find that in the latest BasiliskII versions.

Any help appreciated.

This manual was for BasiliskII 142 for Windows, released in 2001.

Later BasiliskII versions have different features. I do not think reverse scrolling is available in current BasiliskII versions for Windows. It is certainly not available in BasiliskII for macOS that you apparently use, judging by your other topic.

Oh, ha! That is an old manual.

I did find an old Basilisk to get the preference name and confirmed that it does not work in the latest. That's a shame, because I use the reversed scroll direction in macOS.

I use Basilisk for macOS mainly, but also for Windows.

In the latest source, prefs item "mousewheellines" accepts negative value.
This allows you to achieve the reverse Y direction.

Note that kanjitalk755 added this possibility to his source today, so it is not yet available in my 1 March 2021 builds.

@ gingerbeardman
If you want this new possibility now, you can build yourself from source. It is easy. See our wiki: https://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/co ... r_basilisk

Has there been a bit of confusion here? I thought the original request was regarding reversing the values of the mouse Y coordinates; the kanjitalk755 patch appears to enable the reversing of the mouse scroll wheel (on magic mice) direction (which is usually mapped to the up and down arrow keys on BII).

Or did I misunderstand something?

The OP "gingerbeardman" mentions in his second post:
That's a shame, because I use the reversed scroll direction in macOS.
And from the manual he refers to:
By default, Basilisk II will scroll upward in a document when the mouse wheel is rolled away from you, and will scroll downward when the mouse wheel is rolled toward you. If this doesn’t suit your needs, you can always reverse these directions. Checking Reverse y direction does just that; when you rotate your mouse wheel away from you, documents will scroll downward, and vice versa if you rotate the mouse wheel toward you.

Ah; so I somehow misunderstood the OP :)
