...doesn't mean it should be done.

Here's Basilisk II running in PearPC running OS 10.3.5 running in Windows XP.

I know there's a better way to run Basilisk II on PC, I just wanted to see how PearPC would handle it.

Cool. How fast is it? Are you booting MacOS8.1 there in BasiliskII?

Are you going to try running Windows 3.1 in SoftWindows or Bochs later?

Rib, how did you get Basilisk to load the system?

I'm trying to use System 7.5.3 and the disk mounted on the desktop, but no matter what I do, Basilisk keeps giving me the floppy disk with the question mark on it.

It's OS 8.1 booting up in that screenshot.

Since I cannot get my install of PearPC to reliably see my CD drive, I made an iso image of the 8.1 CD and mounted that in PearPC. Basillisk saw that as a CDROM and from there on everything was just as expected.

As far as performance goes, there just isn't any to speak of.

I ran Pi Calculator as a performance benchmark. It is available for 68k, PowerPC classic and OS X, which makes it kind of a handy little utility for judging relative CPU speed.

A real mac in the G4 1GHz range runs the test in about 5 to 7 seconds.

My install of Basilisk II in Windows ran it in 6 seconds (very good emulation speed).

My PearPC>Windows XP install ran it in 82 seconds.

The Basilisk>PearPCWindows XP install I'm showing here ran it in 1605 seconds.

The Host machine is a dual Opteron 246 running Windows XP.

You mean inside of Basilisk? Will softwindows or Bochs run in a 68k mac? It's something to try I suppose.

Yes. Softwindows will run in BasilliskII. You will probably get OK speed out of Widnows 3.1. Widnows 95 will probably be too slow.
