Word 5.1 Install Problem

Post by Binder »

I have made 800k floppy disk images (with read/write option) of the word 5.1 install disks using Apple disk copy v6.3.3. I mounted the disks and launched the setup program but I got this error message. Any ideas what is going on? I checked and nothing seems locked. Every thing works and installs fine in Sheepshaver with OS9, but not Basilisk II.

I am using Basilisk II for windows NT v0.8 build 142.
Thanks.

Maybe it has something to do with the version of diskcopy you used?
Did you try copying the content of the disk to a folder on your harddisk and start installation from there?

Your installation of Word in Sheepshaver will work in your Basilisk II,

Thank you both for your responses.
I did some more research and found that the Word 5.1 installer is buggy. I ended up clicking the customize button, which allows you to continue the installation form there. There were a few options from the customized menu that I did not select (such as system resources and the Equation Editor).

Here is the complete list I ended up with.

----------------------------------------------------------------
For install in Mac OS 7.5.5 (also o.k. for OS 9.0.4) :
-Do a custom install.
-select everything except these options:
Complete Install (No Sys. Resources)
Minimal Install
PowerBook Install
Equation Editor Only
Equation Editor with System Resources
Voice Annotation Only
Voice Annotation: Macintosh Portable
Voice Annotation: System 6.0.5 and Before
Voice Annotation: System 6.0.6 and Later
System Resources for Macintosh Portable
System Resources for 6.0.5 and Before
System Resources for 6.0.6 and Later
