If I had the cash, I'd buy the Linux kit for the PS2 right now.

What about the Sharp Zarus?

Post by iWindoze »

 Just a thought, but is is possible to get Basilisk II
up and running on the US\English language version
of the Sharp Zarus? The Sharp Zarus uses a version
of Linux and if it were possible to get Basilisk II up
and running that would be one more reason for me
to pick it up instead of the WinCE model I've been
saving up for all this time...Plus to me THIS would
be geek-coolness; imagine having the MacOS in the
palm of your hand! Imagine being able to say:
"Newton? What's that?" While showing off to all your
friends a palm sized macintosh....

There is a Zaurus devkit for Linux x86 that will allow you to compile some Zaurus stuff on your PC then run it on your existing Zaurus.

My initial thought would be no since the Zarus uses a 320x240 pixel display, and the lowest res the MacOS has ever supported (that I know of) is 512x384. If it were possible, you'd be limited to running programs with windows that are very tiny or resizable. Maybe you could run Stickies and have the world's most expensive post-it note pad. ;-)

THAT, I want! ..but I'll be waiting for second or third generation,
when they maximize the joystick a little more and (hopefully) by
that time they'll find a way to add dvd and tv card support...
