System 7.1 - no sound

Post by almeath »

I have configured two separate drive images with System 7.1 and 7.5.5.

I can boot with both (using the same ROM and preferences file with identical settings) but sound only works in 7.5.5.

When I click on the alert sounds in 7.1, I see the menu bar flash but I hear nothing. I do the same thing in 7.5.5 and it works fine.

Does Basilisk support sound in System 7.1? Am I needing to install any additional files that do not come on the original 7.1 floppy disks? I performed a full install with the 1.44mb images. I notice that there is no Sound Manager extension in System 7.1.

I do not have a solution for BasiliskII, but System 7.1 may run with sound in Mini vMac.

I have System 7.0.1 running in both Mini vMac and in BasiliskII, the same installation in both (and both without Sound Manager). With System 7.0.1 I have sound in Mini vMac and not in BasiliskII.

Thank you both for the suggestions.

Previously I was using QuickTime 1.5 in System 7.1.

I tracked down QuickTime 2.5 and after installing that the sound now works properly.
