After using Windows XP well beyond the expiration date I switched to Windows 10.
I was prepared for a struggle with "The System"...but could imagine that I had to surrender!
No way to get it going. I installed GTK+ 2.10.13 as I was used to to use the GUI setup. No way. It complaints about missing cairo pango things. But...they are in the correct place.
Basilisk II also doesn't work. It complaints about a missing ROM file. But it is is the folder....
What am I doing wrong? It it because this is a 64 bits system?
Is there an instruction special for Windows 10?

Re: Basilisk II on Windows 10
Hi,
There are no specific issues with Windows 10.
Did you upgrade or get a new machine?
To set new prefs visually you need to get the GUI going. (although they can be set by hand by editing Basilisk_Prefs in the Basilisk folder).
If the GUI tells you it can't find those files, you need to add the GTK installation folder to your path variable.
If you installed in C:\GTK, then you need to add C:\GTK\bin to the path.
Best,
Cat_7

Re: Basilisk II on Windows 10
GTK files are in the PATH the machine sees:
:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\System32\Wbem;C:\WINDOWS\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;c:\Program Files (x86)\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static;C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\SnapAPI\;C:\Program Files (x86)\EaseUS\Todo Backup\bin;C:\Program Files\CloudbaseVPN\bin;C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\GTK\2.0\bin;
But it keeps complaining it can't find them.
If I execute is as administrator I get an other error. Can't find accespoint in libcairopango... etc...

Re: Basilisk II on Windows 10
Maybe you've got an old GTK build that's not compatible with Win10?
Re: Basilisk II on Windows 10
What is the best version for Windows 10?
I used my old gtk+-2.10.13 I always used on XP.....
Which is also advised on old install instructions.

Re: Basilisk II on Windows 10
Might want to try 2.24.10 on http://sourceforge.net/projects/gtk-win/ -- it's from 2014 though, so pre-Win10. But if Win8 changed anything, that version should handle it.
Don't try GTK 3, as that likely won't be compatible.

Re: Basilisk II on Windows 10
OK! My first mission is succeeded. Basilisk II runs on my Windows 10.
I was not used to edit the prefs myself. Always used the GUI.
Cat_7 told me how to do it and also pointed me to a very interesting version.
From the readme I think it is this one:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/cockatrice
Now I can use AppleTalk also on my Windows 10 system! And as people know from me on other forums, I'm addicted to Appletalk....
Will try to get the GUI running also, but it is no big deal doing it without it

Re: Basilisk II on Windows 10
I just released a new version of cockatrice, more slirp fixes, and crash debug logging. .. I'll have to pass word on Dr mingw, it's a good thing to link in, and it should help with all the "I don't know" crashes.
don't do today what you can put off until tomorrow.
