have you noticed that ever since PearPC...
Emaculation seems to be getting crazy traffic? Before it seemed pretty dead.

Hmm... And 90% of us has low post counts ( as in newbies )
And yes, I do realize that includes me. But I used to be fanatic about mac emulation on PC... Once I thought I had finally found the OS X-supporting mac emulator for PC (Linux), and then I found out it was for PowerPC-based Linux computers...
So since then I gave up, until today when I was terribly bored, and chasing the goats in my garden got a little old, I decided to look up PowerPC emulation, and guess what I found! Hoorah!
Wait... Who asked me to ramble about all this stuff in the first place?

I don't think the site lost it's way as such, it still reported every little thing to do with Mac emulation. Remember the old MoL on SIMICS forum? The problem was we were dealing with stabs in the dark. Now we have real news since Sheepshaver (which did increase activity, but to a lesser extent since its Linux only) and PearPC, which makes mac emulation up to date and accessible to all. The technology has caught up with the enthusiasts aspirations a lot more.

Not hardly. If I find anyone asking how to convert a DMG file to ISO and it looks as though they're trying to convert an illegal copy of OS X into a usable format, I will remove the post and ban them. I'm just plain tired of it. I bought a copy of OS 10.3 because I love the OS, and I feel that if people like the OS enough to want to emulate it, they should buy it as well.
Flamers on this one will be banned.

For the Mac Emu history books: Mac emulation on Windows pretty much died about three years ago after Lauri produced build 142 and over a year later the build 143 hack. But Gwenole has been working on Basilisk II for Linux (including a few "beta" ports for Windows) and SheepShaver and mini-vMac popped up. Three years ago is about when Jim Drew backed out of his PPC emulator release and it became obvious that SoftMac was not going to improve.
