Interesting find: Mac+II

Post by adespoton »

Hello everyone,
I was going through the back catalog of MacWorld magazine building up a timeline of old Mac software, and came across an interesting mention in the October 1986 edition: a piece of software called Mac+II that, you guessed it, emulates an Apple II series computer on the Mac Plus. Supposedly it only boots from floppy, and requires the ROM of the II you want to emulate, but does the original Apple II through the IIe Enhanced.

Considering the date, this would be the earliest software emulator to run on a Mac. It even runs DOS 3.3.

Does anyone still have a copy of this software? I want to see if it'll run under a modern Mac Plus emulator such as Mini vMac. It's an interesting bit of early Mac history that would be a shame to lose.
