SheepShaver won't open Windows 10 x64

Post by Tonza72 »

So ...

I've got SheepShaver / OS 9 installed on a Acer Extensa 5235 - Laptop in Windows 7 x86,
which almost works except for the fact, that is awfully slow / sluggish (mouse movements, opening of folders / files, etc. ) .

I've got exactly the same config on a Desktop PC (Asus P5Q - Mobo),
that has Windows 10 x64 on it .

On the laptop I installed OS 9 with a OS 9.0.4 USA ISO-image burnt to a DVD-RW and I can boot straight from the Disk Image file I've created ...

But when I try to install on the Desktop-PC it just throws the DVD-RW out and if I try to start SheepShaver from the 9.0.4 ISO mounted on a Virtual CD/DVD - drive, then nothing happens at all .

What am I doing wrong here ... ???

PLEASE HELP,
- Toni -

The old CDROM driver does not work any more on X64 machines.
There is a patched SheepShaver release enabling CD support on 64 bit systems, but did not try to boot from CD that way.

Usually its easier to create an ISO of your MacOS CD-ROM with IMGBurn in Windows and boot SheepShaver from that.
It may be needed to lock the ISO in Windows to let SS recognise it as "CD".

It is also possible to move your SS Mac volumes from your laptop to the 46bit machine to continue using them.
Move the images via a USB thumbdrive for example.
