Post by miltoncsl »

Hi,

First, thank you for any answer! Is what the best ROM for to use with Sheepshaver for to run one Mac OS with instructions PowerPC only? The ROM from one Macintosh Performa Series or Power Macintosh series or Power Macintosh G3 series etc whose file size is usually 4M?

For me a 4MB ROM from the early PCI Macs "Tsunami" is best for SheepShaver.
SheepShaver works with all valid PPC OS and its possible to reboot from another volume via the Startup Volume control panel.
I´m aware of the fact that many here prefer the 2MB NewWorldROM.
The 2MB ROM can be extracted easily from a freely available package from Apple to keep things simple and legal.

Sure,
Getalt ID 67 Macs are the ones to look for the 4MB RAM.
The early iMacs had the 2MB ROM and the iMac updaters with the file to extract.
Google is your friend. Just search for redundantrobot.com/#/sheepshaver.
The site has some useful files including both matching ROMs for SheepShaver.

I've tested a range of ROM's. The ones that seem to work best with SheepShaver are most of the PowerMac ROMs, Macintosh G3, Performa 6200, and the NewWorld86 ROM. A suitable ROM not only enables the system to boot up, but also prevents it from crashing and enables it to shutdown properly.
