Option key in games

Post by wunjee »

Good morning!

So, unlike most people who seem to be using Sheepshaver/Basilisk for productive things, I'm using it for the same thing I used my old 5260/100 (which I still have. With a bad HDD..) for. Games! Oldworld Mac games were the best!

While I can get the Option key to work for things like closing a program (option+q), I cannot get it to work in games. For example, Escape Velocity uses the Option+C command to recall fighters. Option+Tab allows you to target your own fighters/escorts.

None of that works.

Is there a way to fix it?

I appreciate any help in advance! I missed OS 7.5.3 so much and found it funny how easy it was to jump back into things I hadn't done since I was 15...

Did you try both option keys? Sometimes one works and the other doesn’t. Also, the option key is always recognized if you also hold down command or shift.

Well, for some reason, the command key started working on Alt instead of Windows Key and now it's working in-game. Only problem is that the game uses Tab to target and alt+tab does..well, you know what alt+tab does. I'll fiddle around with SheepShaver's settings a bit more.

Thanks for the reply!
