installer stuck on "Updating Apple hard disk drivers"

Post by jstrout »

I've tried twice now to get Sheepsaver set up, following the instructions here.

But when I run the Mac OS 9 installer, it gets stuck on "Updating Apple hard disk drivers" with an Estimated Time Remaining that just keeps growing. I let it go for about half an hour the first time, before I force-quit SheepSaver and tried again. This second time it's been about 15 minutes so far. I'll let it go, for lack of any better ideas, but I doubt it will ever finish.

Before starting the second time, I did poke around in the installation options, but I can't see any way to skip this step.

Is this problem familiar to anyone? Any ideas?

Thanks,
- Joe

Shoot — never mind. I found the needed option in a different place (after discovering this forum's search feature, and finding the thread from the last guy who ran into this).

Seems to be going now; sorry for the noise. Looking forward to playing my old Wumpus! game again. :)
