Running Mac OS X Server NOT 1.2v3 - Revisited

Post by vlad557776 »

Hi.

I haven't been dealing with Macs for a long time, so no new topics from me.

I was digging through QEMU stuff on Virtually Fun and found this:

https://github.com/steventroughtonsmith/BootX

According to the resource, it spoofs enough stuff to boot Mac OS X Server 1.0.

So now I'm asking for a tutorial on how to install Server 1.x using this.

I believe you've already found said tutorial on Steven's website and github page?

Someone will have to follow his tutorial and see if they can get V1.0 and Rhapsody to boot using his patches. This isn't something a mainline vanilla configuration of QEMU-PPC can just do out of the box; some assembly is required.

However, this implies that if he can get this data into OpenBIOS, we may even have a way to boot 8.6! I believe it uses many of the same configurations as Server 1.0 and Rhapsody.

I found only this GitHub page. Never heard of his website.

EDIT: If we boot 8.6, will DP1 boot on Windows?

I don't think I understand the question. Do you mean will DP1 boot in QEMU on Windows? If we get the BootX configuration correct, yes. It'll bot anywhere QEMU runs. But there may need to be some fixes to OpenBIOS before this can fully work.
