Location of 3.1.1 update on AUXBootfloopy?

Post by racingmars »

The A/UX on QEMU installation guide (https://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/m6 ... on-windows) mentions that the AWS Tune-up 2.0 software is included on the AUXBootfloppy.img.

I have successfully installed A/UX and upgraded to 3.1, but I don't see any additional files on the AUXBootfloppy for the AWS Tune-up 2.0 to upgrade to A/UX 3.1.1. Is it hiding somewhere or on another partition that needs to be mounted or something like that?

Here's what I see on the boot floppy:

Thanks,

Hi, and welcome,

You are correct, the update is missing from the image.
I uploaded a new version, please download the boot floppy again.

Thank you Cat_7, I grabbed the new disk image and got my system updated to 3.1.1. Been a looooonnngg time since I played with A/UX on my old Quadra 950; looking forward to re-living some memories!

But how do you use the floppy post installation?

As soon as I add the floppy image to qemu parameters it boots from it and launches installer. There is no way to access any files.

Is there a way to bypass installer with floppy disk inserted?

How did you install tune up?

Thanks

Ah, yes,

You need to set the startup disk to your installed system and then add the floppy image with a different scsi id (if I remember correctly).

I tried that of course. Added floppy with SCSI 3. Also tried --boot flags for qemu. It always wants to boot from the floppy. And skipping boot by holding shift gets you to this crooked A/UX Installer finder that doesn't even show drives / disks.

The scsi id of the boot device is saved in the parameter ram.
If set to the floppy scsi id, you can swap the scsi id's of the floppy and the hard disk in the config file.
