Cheat engine in Basilisk and other emulators

Post by starfiretbt »

Sometimes I like to use a piece of gaming software called "Cheat engine" from this site https://cheatengine.org/. I works by finding numerical values in bytes but in mac emulation it only finds them in single byte form as opposed to 2,4,8, and a whole bunch of other byte ranges. This means any numerical value higher than 255 might show up as a smaller number, I thing 260 might show up as a 5 if I remember correctly. This means it is impossible to change values higher than 255. For example I can't hack exp in "Odyssey the Legend of Nemesis" once it goes above that value. I want to be able to bring the exp down so I can continue to level grind my character past the maximum level to make an even stronger character, I found this did work at lower levels but once it's past 255 it doesn't work.

I know it's a stretch but does anybody have any advice? I tried asking the people at the cheat engine web site but their advice went over my head and I was hoping for something simple like changing how mac emulators read byte values so cheat engine can better see them.

Disregard recent post, I went back and looked more closely at the advice they gave me at the cheat engine site. I didn't understand it before as it didn't work but I tried something they didn't recommend but was related to it and it did work. https://forum.cheatengine.org/viewtopic ... 776064aeba

Sorry be bothering everybody this problem is solved.
