Support for CD-switching

Post by osx-lover »

Hi,

So, I think there should be a way to easily switch CD images while the machine is running, which would be useful for installing later versions of Mac OS X such as Tiger. The reason I'd want to do this is because not every Mac computer from that time period supported DVD-ROM, and some versions of Mac OS X needed to come on multiple discs so that they could still be installed on machines that didn't have a DVD-ROM drive. It might not be that big of an issue today, except for the fact that some versions just never came on DVD-ROM to begin with (I think Panther is a good example of this.)

I'm pretty sure that some games from that time period also came on multiple discs. World of Warcraft is a good example of this. When it first came out, it came on 5 CDs total. Therefore, in the current state of the emulator, you would run into problems if you tried to install that, since there's no obvious way to switch discs on-the-fly. Of course, that is just an example.

As a work-around, can't you load 5 CD-ROM drives?
